The word of the day is Megillah.

  1. Slang. a) a lengthy and tediously complicated situation or matter. b) a lengthy, detailed explanation or account: Just give me the facts, not the whole megillah.

I actually have this quote on my call in my bedroom. It makes sense in both business and personal settings. Less is more when it comes to "stuff." Less is more when it comes to building solutions.

To combat the word of the day, megillah, think of simplicity. Don't overthink or overdo. Just do. And don't forget to apply logic and intuition while you do it.

Opportunity Doesn't Always Knock

Nothing happens when you sit around and wait for it to come to you.

Most disruptive value comes from taking action. You have to get up from your seat in order to see the world from different perspectives.

It's like I always say - "Inspiration is a beautiful muse that will only meet you halfway."

Get up and start walking toward her. She's not going to come to you.

Meet Inspiration Halfway

tartMuch like passion, you have to do something before inspiration can be generated.

Inspiration is a beautiful muse, but she can be just as lazy as you can be.

The trick is to start walking toward her. That's when she'll meet you halfway.

In a nutshell, this means you have to do the work to get positioned in front of something you have excitement about. From that vantage point, you'll see more sources for inspiration.

Bury Me Honest

I've written about "Dying Empty" in the past. There's a great book called Die Empty by Todd Henry that inspired the concept of getting all of your ideas out of your head during your lifetime.

I recently also heard a song lyric that shouted the theme of "Bury Me Honest."  I like this notion similarly. One should always tell the truth in life, but if we haven't in the past, we can still reconcile our lies by proclaiming the truth before we pass.

So if there is some sort of laundry list to check off before it's my time to leave this planet, it might look something like:

  • Clear my mind of all great ideas
  • Ensure the truth is always what is what's known
  • Emphasize the love for others that I'm leaving with

It's ideas, integrity, and love. It resolves to the themes that I think are central to my every day life.
